Vopak Terquimsa Enters Phase II Expansion

May 17, 2018 [Tank News International] - Vopak’s Spanish joint venture Vopak Terquimsa is set to begin construction work on the second phase of its expansion project at the Tarragona terminal.


With this second expansion, Vopak Terquimsa will see its capacity reach more than 40,000 cbm, reinforcing its already leading storage position in the Port of Tarragona.

The expansion will take place at the Dock of the Chemistry (Muelle de la Quimica). The storage capacity of this second phase will be 27,500 cbm, destined for the storage of chemical products. The total capacity of the terminal will, be after this second expansion, 430,000 cbm.

With this new capacity Vopak wants to “continue to meet the needs of our industrial customers located in the chemical cluster of Tarragona, while allowing us to attract new flows that enhance our role as a hub for chemical products in the western Mediterranean,” Eduardo Sañudo, General Director of the Company explained.

The new expansion will incorporate the latest technology in industrial automation to enable safer and more efficient operations, all under the highest standards of environmental efficiency.
